OMTL Day 3 - Time
Peter and I are blogging our way through the One Month to Live book by Kerry and Chris Shook. If you are joining us, we are on Day 3 which focuses on managing our time--our most valuable commodity.
For me, the most helpful reminder is that as we get more intentional about our time, there is an important paradox at work. On the one hand, many of us are far too busy in our lives and we need to hear God's gracious invitation to rest. On the other hand, when we are busy, we tend to fill our empty moments with empty activity. We know that we spend too much time with TV, Facebook, gaming, texting etc. and we need to hear God's invitation to engage in life-giving pursuits.
To live passionately means to be very serious about our spare time--how do we use it to
nurture our most meaningful relationships? With God. Family. Friends. And to live passionately means that we also keep our work in proper perspective and not let it define us.
Today I have a chance to spend time with one of my most treasured friends. In the midst of all I have going on, I feel released to enjoy this time as a gift from God (Proverbs 18:24).
